With reference o the enclos d cop of a letter from the Goverment of Hong Kong respecting the leave of absence, end salary arrangements of Mr. D. Burlingham, Assistant Superintendent of Police I have the honour to report that this official called at this office on the 23rd instant, and produced official documents from the Government of India shewing that he cersed to draw Indian Army Pay of Rs. 403.12 from the 1st February inclusive, and that he embarked for this country on the 8th April which was the first available opportunity. He stated that Thilst serving in the Indian Army his Colonial Allowance was paid in Hong Kong, and twat nie Army Pay had been deducted from his civil salary in respect of hie Colonial Allowance for the month of February, and that he was therefore
ntitled to a refund in this respect.
2. e lave paidke Burling..em his salary for the months of March and April, and shall be glad to receive instructions respecting the date from which his leave of absence, should commence, and if we should refund the Army Pay which he states has been deducted for the month of February.
